* Part - Time Porter/Dishwasher 7am -3pm Must work every other weekend and every other Holiday. Dining Service Porters should be committed to learning and complying with health care standards of food preparation and service for nursing homes. This position requires a candidate that is quick to learn and has exceptional customer service skills. Candidates should be able and willing to help in any area of dining services department as needed. This position will report to the Director of Dining Services and by applying for the position you recognize that nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties or responsibilities to this job at any time. You may be asked to help in other areas of the building as needed for the optimal performance of your building/department and the well-being of our residents. Essential Job Functions: As Porter in a Grace Management Services facility you must be able to perform the following essential functions as demonstrated by the ability to: Be responsible for transportation of meal service including tray service, servery kitchen or dining rooms. Be able to follow written and oral directions. Be responsible for care and cleaning of food service equipment and carts. Be responsible for a clean work environment. Assist in the proper care, use and cleaning of food service equipment. Work as a team with the food service staff. Be responsible for all aspects of dish and pot/pan washing including scraping soiled dishes, placing them in the dish machine, operating the automated dish machine, supervising travel through the dish machine, sorting clean dishes and transporting them to storage areas. Assess problems and breakdowns in dish washing machinery and report this information to the Director or Assistant Director of Dining Services. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments. Be accountable for the information in the employee handbook. Adhere to all facility policies and procedures including resident’s rights, infection control, and safety. Attend in-services, seminars and food shows as directed by supervisor. Represent the dining services department in a professional manner and accept duties from supervisor in a cooperative manner. Comply with state, federal and OSHA regulations. Comply with all facility policies and procedures. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor. Be responsible for recording temperatures for dish machine in main kitchen. Be responsible for putting away stock including rotating, labeling and dating all food and supplies. Understand that exposure to hazardous chemicals or blood borne pathogens are a possibility in long term care. Consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred. All candidates must be proficient in basic computer programs and must be able to correspond timely through e-mail or other forms of technical communication as needed to successfully complete the requirements for this job. This requirement occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles. Must be able to balance, climb, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to hear, smell, feel and speak adequately to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to read and write the English language.
