Duties and Responsibilities: The activities of the Registered Dietitian may include, but are not limited to: Assessment and monitoring the nutritional needs of residents according to established schedules and referral protocols, including enteral and parenteral nutrition (TPN) patients Order writing for regular and therapeutic diets when approved under the supervision of the primary care physician and/or state licensure standards in conjunction with facility protocols and procedures. The Registered Dietitian will keep the physician, appropriate family members, and appropriate community staff informed of the nutritional status of residents. Developing regular and therapeutic diets or providing oversight for the menu system utilized in the community. Participate as needed or requested in MDS process, the interdisciplinary plan of care, and in documentation of nutritional care in the medical record. Provide nutrition documentation for resident according to established schedules and guidelines including assessment and changes in resident nutrition plans including diet orders Participation in developing and implementing an individualized plan of care to meet the nutritional needs of each resident. Provide nutrition education for residents and families as needed and requested. Assist the Dietary Department in maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations. The Registered Dietitian PRN will collaborate with the Registered Dietitian and Administrator to determine hours as needed. Education: Must possess, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university. Experience: Must have experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related medical facility. Must have training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc. Specific Requirements: Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a dietitian in this state. Must be available for Fridays eight hour shift and other days PRN.
