Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Endeavor House North is looking for a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (approximately 20 hours a week; flexible days) at our center located in Kearny NJ. We are a comprehensive addiction treatment program that provides many levels of care. We primarily serve clients with addiction disorders and behavioral health conditions.. We have an integrated approach to care and our treatment modalities include CBT, DBT, Psychoeducation, and 12 step education. POSITION SUMMARY: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide psychiatric services to a diverse population within a clinical treatment setting. The nurse promotes the overall physical and mental health of the client by conducting an initial assessment and a psychiatric evaluation, followed by consultation and coordination with the clinical team, Clinical Director and Medical Director. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct psychiatric services through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, including prescribing and administering medications. Provides professional consultation to staff, participates in weekly treatment team and serves on clinical committees as needed. Obtains and evaluates clinical outcome data. Completes necessary medical records and reports in the Electronic Medical Records system that the organization utilizes. Provides psychiatric coverage throughout the agency as necessary during operating hours. Supervise the treatment plans of assigned patients. Participates in quality assurance, educational, and professional committees as needed. Serves as a psychiatric consultant to behavioral health and medical providers. Coordinates psychiatric services with other behavioral health activities. Prescribes and evaluates effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures and interventions. Participates in program development as assigned. Performs other program related duties as assigned. Responsible for medical liaison with client primary care physicians and/or medical reviewers of third party payors as needed or indicated by medical review. Promotes client’s independence by establishing client care goals, educates client’s on their condition and diagnosis and monitors the ongoing effectiveness of medications. Maintains client confidentiality and protects client information by keeping information confidential. Assures the highest quality of care is maintained by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against client care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following philosophies and standards of care set by the state board of psychiatry, state medical board and other governing agency regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of the required knowledge and abilities, typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to: Completion of a Master's, Post-Master's or Doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) with emphasis in the Nurse Practitioner's specialty area AND Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent body or the ability to obtain certification with three (3) months AND Current active licensure to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse in the Nursing Practitioner category in the State of New Jersey AND Two (2) years of acute and/or ambulatory clinical nursing experience and sufficient expertise, competency, and experience in a specialty area for specific patient populations. Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and methods of acute and primary care clinical nursing, including community aspects of nursing programs and continuity of patient care; Diagnosis and treatment of common medical problems as related to a clinical specialty area ; Sciences basic to medicine (anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology); Laws and regulations pertaining to practice of medicine and nursing; Current trends and concepts in nursing fundamentals of medicine.
