POSITION SUMMARY: The Physicianâ€™s Office Nurse oversees the clinical area of the office by coordinating patient services and assists the physician in the management of patient health care. The Physicianâ€™s Office Nurse must have general knowledge of the physicianâ€™s office nursing procedures as outlined in the Policy and Procedures of Boundary Community Hospital. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse (RN) with an associate degree of nursing from an accredited school Experience preferred. Current Idaho RN license. Current CPR certification. ACLS preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook, familiar with electronic medical record, able to operate, computer, fax, copier and handle multi-line telephone. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form. Write basic reports as needed. POSITION SCHEDULE: 30-40 hours a week, full time benefited position Available Monday - Friday; 10 hour shifts ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS: Conduct patient triage on phone and in person to determine need, schedule and status. Responsible for making an assessment of the patient, obtaining vital statistics and weight before physician examination. Implement treatments and/or procedures as directed by the physician within the nurse practice act. Assist the physician with examinations, treatments or procedures as required. Administer medications as ordered by the physician. Inform the patient of possible side effects and what to expect. Document medications given, doses, route, etc. Demonstrate working knowledge of equipment used in the office. Adhere to guidelines set forth in the Policies and Procedures of Boundary Community Hospital. Communicate to the physician and/or the Director of Patient Services any complaints, problems, occurrences or personal problems immediately. Responsible for stocking supplies and medications. Keeping track of medication outdates, disposing of them properly and reordering when necessary. Respects patient confidentiality. Cleaning equipment for resterilization per Policy and Procedure. Patient laboratory results, radiology tests, consultations, etc. to be reviewed and initialed by the physician before filing. If results are abnormal, attach to patient file before giving to physician. Maintain and update MSDS manual and Policy and Procedure manual for office. Assist patients as necessary with appointments for referral or diagnostic tests at other facilities. After physician approval, call medication refills to pharmacy of patientâ€™s choice and document on file. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS: Adhere to uniform and hygiene requirements per Policy and Procedure. Obtain continuing Education Credits required by Boundary Community Hospital. Attend RN meetings when possible. All other duties assigned.
