12 Hour Shift RNs: 7:00am to 7:30pm 7:00pm to 7:30am General Summary: To plan, organize, supervise and evaluate personnel to meet the total needs of the resident while maintaining high quality health care. Demonstrate professional growth and accountability. Communicates concerns to Director of Nursing. Essential Duties: Supervises and directs nurses and CENA's within their scope of practice ensuring 24-hour resident care and customer satisfaction. Demonstrates exceptional skills in accessing and identifying changes in resident condition and implement a plan of care that addresses the resident needs. Attends interdisciplinary meetings designed to formulate interventions for the plan of care of residents with specific needs. Pursues both internal and external opportunities for professional development by continued education designed in enhancing skills and competency. Generates reports for investigations, problem solutions and incident reports. Demonstrates the ability to make insightful, timely decisions during difficult and complex situations. Establishes and maintains productive lines of communication with residents, families and ancillary staff to deliver excellent care to residents. Regulates audits of resident medical record for AU compliance, Medicare documentation, doctor's orders, NCP's, medication administration, treatment logs, ADLs and food acceptance sheets. Evaluates nursing staff work performance. Ensures adherence to facility policy and procedure and delivers corrective action when warranted. Assists in interviewing applicants for nursing positions. Participates in clinical quality assurance for facility by completing QA audits and analyzing data provided by QI/QM reports looking for opportunities and measures to improve quality improvement. Assists with planning for resident discharges. Insures compliance with state and federal requirements for skilled nursing center. Standard Qualifications: Minimum Education : Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and a valid State of Michigan license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse. Minimum Work Experience : Five to seven years progressively more responsible clinical nursing experience. Skilled nursing experience required. Contacts with Others : Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees. Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance. Analytical Demands : Requires problem solving and mediation skills to handle employees and patient concerns. Requires ability to assess needs for appropriate resource utilization and budget accordingly. Certification, Licensure, Registration : Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan.
